World café: Designing together for a smart city

Start date

Location
Amersfoort

The digital and physical world are increasingly (and often unnoticed) flowing into each other there . As a result, public space is also seen and experienced differently than before the digital age. Consider, for example, walking in the city center. How many cameras are there, and what impact does that have on how we behave and how safe we feel? And is that actually consistent with what is actually seen and done with these cameras? Designing for a smart city is challenging. How do we ensure the right balance between technology and humanity? What is really smart? During the World café we will take a closer look at important themes in designing a smart city.

About the event

The Gebruiker Centraal and KNVI networks are organizing two joint events in the coming months. The first event will take place on April 13. In the World café on April 13, we will look for the balance between technology and humanity when designing a smart public space. What impact do smart solutions such as cameras, sensors and other technological gadgets have on the quality of life in the city? What do these developments do to people? Which personal and public values play a role in the design of a smart public space? In short, we will approach the design of a smart city from different perspectives, with the focus on the resident.

Do you know what a world café is? In a world café, groups of a maximum of 4 to 5 people discuss – often at round tables – questions that matter. These can be questions about life, work or from the participants in the conversation.

Who is this event for?

This event is for members of the KNVI and Gebruiker Centraal who are involved in developments regarding the 'smart city'. All professionals who focus on this subject to a greater or lesser extent are welcome.

Where and when is it?

The event will take place on April 13 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in a location at Amersfoort Central Station

What's in it for you?

Awareness is an important word during this event. The World café is therefore kicked off by an inspiring and tangible view of an artist on the digital world in which we live. Based on different themes and propositions, we enter into a conversation with each other and you experience the different perspectives and angles when designing a smart public space. At the tables of the World café you also contribute to mapping all these angles. As a participant you will definitely leave the event with a broader view of designing a smart city.
